Abhyanga Massage (Ayurvedic Massage)
"Abhyanga" or "Ayurvedic" massage is a gentle but firm whole body massage, from head to toe, performed with warm sesame oil. The massage is done in a soft rhythmic way, giving special attention to the marma points in the body (energy centres) to stimulate and revitalise body, mind and spirit. Abhyanga is also cleansing and detoxifying and the use of oil is designed to stimulate both further release of toxins from the cells and circulation of the subcutaneous tissues. A regular Abhyanga protects from stress, anxiety, exhaustion and balances emotions and the mind. It enhances skin tone, improves circulation, boosts the immune system, and helps with chronic pain or musculo-skeletal problems.
Shiroabhyanga (Ayurvedic Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage)
This is a lovely seated and non-invasive massage that works on upper back, shoulders, arms, hands, neck, head and face. Originally developed by Indian women as a way of caring for their long shiny hair, it is a relaxing and detoxifying therapy that encourages healthy hair growth and balances the body’s energy system. It is especially recommended for eyestrain, migraine, tension headaches, blocked sinuses, irritability, insomnia, and stiff neck and shoulders. Oil can be used on the scalp to nourish and strengthen hair and to treat baldness and early greying.
Pada Abhyanga (Ayurvedic Foot Massage with Kansa Vatki bowl)
This delightful and unique treatment has been practised in India for centuries. At its heart is the small Kansa Vatki ("three-metal bowl" in Sanskrit) which is made of three metals with therapeutic effects: copper is anti-inflammatory and can help in reducing pain, inflammation and arthritis; zinc is antiseptic and can help the functioning of the immune system and digestion; tin is soothing and can relieve headache and insomnia. This massage is deeply relaxing for tired feet and legs, but it also detoxifies the whole body. It focuses on the marmas (Ayurvedic acupressure points) of feet and lower legs to improve blood and lymphatic circulation, enhance lower limb mobility, restore energy levels and promote sound sleep. Kansa Vatki massage is also ideal for pregnant women as it helps to treat poor circulation in feet and legs, which is a common pregnancy related discomfort.

What is Ayurveda?
AYURVEDA is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘the science of life’ and is India’s ancient medical life-style system dating back 5,000 years. Ayurveda is a holistic system that considers mind, body and spirit as an integrated whole. It aims to guide us to live a healthier and more balanced lifestyle and to restore health according to our unique and individual constitutional make up. It focuses on prevention of disease and optimisation of vitality rather than on cure and uses: herbal medicine, food, meditation and yoga practice, detoxification and tonification to bring about health. Massage is also an integral part of the healing process and it is praised as a daily practice to promote good health and longevity.Marinella Benelli committed herself to bring Ayurveda into her daily life, and embarked on a new journey to become an Ayurvedic massage therapist.
